Performance and application of KH-550 silane

KH-550 Silane is a reactive chemical having an aminopropyl organofunctional group and a triethoxysilyl inorganic functional group. KH-550 Silane has both organic and inorganic reactivity and can react with organic resins and inorganic mineral surfaces such as glass fibers and silica.

KH-550 Silane can be applied to inorganic surfaces by diluting an aqueous solution (0.1 to 0.5% silane concentration). The silane solution can be obtained by directly adding silane to water and stirring. (Insufficient agitation can result in high concentrations of silane in water and formation of colloidal particles). It is generally recommended that the silane be used in a solution which is acidified by acetic acid or oxalic acid to a pH of 3.5 to 6 (preferably 3.5-4) to obtain optimum properties such as glass fiber.
